New joint research analyzes 8,288 AI-generated answers across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude to reveal which fintech brands get recommended, and which don't.

Toronto, Ontario, August 19, 2026. Yolando and Coinflow partnered on a simple question with a complicated answer: when a fintech buyer asks an AI assistant for a recommendation, which brands does it name? To find out, the two companies analyzed 8,288 real answers across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude, spanning six fintech verticals. The full report includes leaderboards, source data, and the methodology behind every number.

Key findings

Three patterns stood out, each with direct implications for how fintech teams approach AI visibility.

The race is still open. Most categories have a clear AI incumbent, but two of the six don't have a single brand above 30% visibility. Those are the categories where a challenger can still claim a top position.

Reddit is the top source. The most-cited source across the entire study isn't any provider's website. It's Reddit, ranking first in all six verticals. A brand's own site matters, but it's one layer of a much larger picture.

There's no single "AI search." The four assistants given the same question overlap in brand recommendations only about 12% of the time. In the open categories, they don't even agree on a leader. Fintech brands aren't optimizing for one AI. They're optimizing for four.

Category-level leaderboards, open intents, and a breakdown of where each AI pulls its answers are available in the full report.

Background: the Yolando and Coinflow partnership

The report grew out of a direct engagement between Yolando and Coinflow, a B2B payment infrastructure company. The same methodology behind the research produced measurable results for Coinflow.

Coinflow had demand arriving through AI assistants, but its analytics filed those leads under "Unassigned," making the channel impossible to evaluate. Over 90 days, Yolando tracked Coinflow's visibility across all four engines, built attribution that separated LLM-sourced leads from the "Unassigned" bucket, and published content targeting payment intents where Coinflow was underrepresented.

The outcomes: AI visibility in Gaming and Digital Goods rose from 1.9% to 9.2%. LLMs became Coinflow's third-highest inbound lead channel. One piece of content earned 376 AI citations in a single quarter. The full Coinflow case study details the approach and results.

"The headline isn't that AI has picked winners in fintech. It's that in most categories it hasn't," said Martin Cheung, Founding GTM at Yolando. "The brands that treat AI answers as a channel to earn are the ones that will fill the open shortlist. Coinflow is what that looks like in practice."
